Ever seen that totally-focused woman in the thrift store? The one who's trained her four-year old to look for the tags of whatever colour is discounted that day? The one perusing the dresses, the 'better quality clothes' racks, the books, the dishes ...
She's in her zone.
She kinda looks like she knows what she's doing.
Uh huh. She's done this once or twice.
Once. or. twice. I can hear my husband laughing and he's not even home at the moment.

Cocoa butter is the antioxidant-rich oil extracted from cocoa (or cacao) seeds. As in, chocolate. It's actually one of the principal ingredients in many white chocolate bars!
The raw, organic variety is best to buy, because the beans are sustainably grown and the oil is gently pressed out and not heated to high temperatures - meaning that the antioxidants and fats aren't destroyed. It's what I make most of my moisture products out of, at home and for sale.

These last couple of weeks have been pretty exciting ... and I've been a busy girl! (I'll tell you all about my exciting news soon, I promise!) Today though I'm going to share a best-of post with you ... to tell you precisely why I love passata.
(I even love the word passata. Don't you? It sounds like a secret ... )

Why is it that it's easier to be anxious than peaceful?
To dread mortality, rather than accept it?
Why does that little voice in the back of my head mutter things I don't want to hear, rather than things I do?

This is my second favourite way to cook eggplant.
As an aside, I'll tell you about my #1 favourite eggplant dish. That was a tagine at a little Morroccan restaurant in Lisbon, that you had to skirt past laneway diners and up steep staircases and around dim corners to get to. I have to confess, Robbie and I visited 3 of the 4 nights we romanced that splendid city.

We all make choices, every day of our lives. We choose coffee or no coffee; latte or cappuccino or unlimited house brew. Every time we check email at work, it's because we've chosen to. At lunch we choose ham on rye or avocado on sourdough or egg salad. After work, we choose a long commute or books with the kids or soaps on tv or a brisk 5km run. And yes, I said choose a long commute.
There are always options. Alternatives. Choices.
