It's Almost Australia Day!
My perfect Australia Day? Involves a smashing breakfast, a drive in the countryside, and a BBQ on the deck. Preferably with a cold beer in my hand.
Oh, I love this place.
Coconut waffles with bananas and mango jam for breakfast
(you don't have to share. the blue-tongues understand)
Need a snack? Chocolate avocado smoothies out of a thermos.
Then home, to fire up the Barbie ...
Choose grillables like broccoli, corn, sustainable seafood, or pizza made from naans or flatbreads
Drink fresh lemonade
(spiked or not)
Mix it up with some fresh slaw or a crispy salad.
By the pool, if you have one. (Because it's summer, after all)
Do not forget the lemon potatoes ...
Or the ginger cookies.
And what's Australia Day without pavlova? Or, as I favour, meringues slathered with fresh, whipped cream and passionfruit pulp.
I ♥ Australia.

Thanks Paula! I think *everybody* needs to visit Australia one time or another :)
So lovely... does this mean you are celebrating Aussie-Day at home?
Yes! we'll be home next Monday morning! (robbie arrived back today) you have beers on-tap? xx
Amanda I discovered your blog after I saw a tweet this morning. It looks very inviting and I look forward to reading more.

Heather, thank you. And what lovely lovely words! I can see why your husband wants you to blog. snowy studio? anvil warm by fire? tell us more!! :)
That's a scary thought, that it is almost Australia Day. Firstly because it means January is almost over and Secondly because daughter no. 2 has invited 20 girls over on Australia Day for a little gathering!!! What is that meant to mean? Am I to be frightened?
BTW Love all your photos. They really capture the essence of Australia.
Ha! Jess, you make me laugh. 20 girls? You and your Nikon can handle that ... ;)
This looks amazing... but I'd add in the nectarine bruschetta too... can't get enough of it! SUCH a great idea!
